Saree Styling for My Son’s Akshara Abhyasa

Every milestone in our child’s life becomes a cherished memory, and for me, my son’s Akshara Abhyasa was one such unforgettable occasion. As a mother, I wanted my outfit to reflect both tradition and grace something that would stay rooted in culture yet feel celebratory.

The Saree Choice

For the ceremony, I wore a Kanchipuram Silk Saree in cream with a vibrant pink zari border. Kanchipuram (or Kanjivaram) sarees woven in Tamil Nadu are known for their luxurious silk, bold contrast borders, and temple-inspired motifs. Life gets busy, and I couldn’t share my Varamahalakshmi Pooja look earlier. Interestingly, I styled this same saree and jewelry combination for that auspicious day as well. A pearl-studded coin choker necklace (Pakke Haar), a Goan-inspired jewelry piece. A traditional Nath (nose ring), which instantly elevated the ethnic appeal. Stacks of purple, pink, yellow and gold bangles that tied the whole look together and added a subtle pop of vibrance.

The traditional ear cuff paired with delicate studs brings a regal vibe to this look. Ear cuffs are a trending accessory that not only complement sarees but also add a bold, eye-catching element without being too heavy. The intricate design elevates the entire outfit, making it perfect for festive occasions, weddings, or temple visits.

The blouse is designed in a deep back style with tie-up detailing, keeping it both stylish and comfortable. The front neckline is designed in a simple yet elegant U-shape, outlined with delicate stone bead edging for a refined finish. The sleeves stand out with detailed zari motifs, giving a regal touch to the overall design.

Adding to its charm this blouse features stone bead aari work done by me. I chose shimmering stone beads that catch the light beautifully and give the blouse a festive glow. This not only adds a customized designer feel but also makes the blouse unique.

One of my favorite shots was captured against the serene backdrop of the temple premises, where the timeless architecture enhanced the grace of the saree. It added both divinity and warmth to the entire look.
