Vivaan’s First Birthday Celebration

My precious little cupcake was turning ONE. As it is worth celebrating his every little move and milestone, so is his first birthday to mark his transition to toddlerhood. You only get one chance at throwing your baby’s first birthday party. Hence, I wanted the celebration to be best to make it amazing, momentous as well as memorable. Also, it becomes a memory of a lifetime for you.

First-year birthdays are the moments that you wish to capture and show to your little one when he/she is all grown up. Hence everything needs to be planned well from themes, party decorations, cake, delicious food, etc.

We skipped the grand celebration for his first birthday, as my little hero would not know what was happening! Also, it could be stressful to handle all the party affairs when most time is occupied with taking care of your baby.

Keeping things simple with limited guests and products gave me some time to manage the party as well as my baby with little help.

Planning the celebration well in advance kept me on track as well as stress-free. I started first with creative decorations, balloons, gifts, and then cake designs.

A few cute birthday traditions were also made part of the celebration. At the end of the day, the most crucial thing is that everything is safe and doesn’t upset his mood or his stomach.

With these suggestions, one can have a joyful and stress-free birthday celebration without having to arrange a pricey party.

Choosing A Theme

Theme is everything when it comes to first birthdays. Theme-based birthdays will give a clear idea to organize and direction on what you need to work with. Also, a simple birthday celebration can be upscaled to the next level by a simple theme as you’re setting the tone for the entire event. It sets a sophisticated vibe and put-together feel.

There are so many unique party themes for boys and girls. One can go cute with Bunnies and Bears, Baby shark theme, Butterfly world, Astronaut, Mickey Mouse and friends, Superhero, Suit and Tie, Safari, or Ocean theme.

Else, simply go for a princess or pink and gold theme for girls and a blue and white, king-themed party for boys.

A theme should be selected carefully based on the venue, the guests list, and your budget.

After choosing a theme you can search for decoration ideas of that respective theme on Google and pick one.

I choose “The Boss Baby” with an iconic blue color theme to give an all-boy decorum for my son’s birthday party celebration which was held at home.

Setting a budget and sticking to it was a must to keep track of the money spent. To reduce the expense, I opted for plenty of DIY-friendly ideas. Like, got the photo booth done all by myself.

Having a photo booth was a FUNtastic way to get memorable pics clicked. I also got the chalkboard-themed milestone chart ready by simply editing and typing. Later, got this printed on A3 size gloss paper. Also, I got an amazing welcome banner printed on A4 size gloss paper through a simple editing process.

This brought me immense joy as I was putting in effort to make your son’s day special which is going to be a memory of a lifetime. Plus, it saved me money without compromising my son’s birthday planning.

Setting A Timeline

Establishing a timeline for what I needed to do before the party kept me in check and organized.

Most importantly, I kept the checklists of things and got them ticked off as I went along after the completion of the task. So that I don’t miss a thing. Decorations were my first preference whereas, buying a theme-based cake came last.

Planning Early

I started planning my baby’s big day a month before. I ordered most of the things from online Amazon.in stores.

Amazon.in is one-stop for all your birthday needs. Ordering from Amazon.in is absolutely hustle free and stress-free. You can get everything on Amazon.in with just a click on your phone at your convenient time.

Most of the products on Amazon.in have true reviews so one can be sure of the products you buy. You get the things delivered as per the date they mention. Also, it gave me ample time to return damaged as well as wrong products back and reorder for proper ones without any fuss.

Items purchased in the online order list were a checklist of things. This made sure of the things brought.

I avoided waiting until the last minute as party supply stores, venues, and caterers don’t always run as per our schedule. This saved me from loads of last-minute stress.

Inviting Right Guest

Do not feel obligated to invite anyone you do not want to because it is your baby’s special day. Invite people your baby loves or who adore your child. Feel free to tell anyone you don’t want at the party as you are keeping things small, or you are focusing more on the baby instead.

We kept the guest list short by inviting only close family. As he was turning a year old, too many unfamiliar faces could make him anxious, cranky, and cling to me.

Invitation was sent only through WhatsApp which was easy and hustle free.

I found the invitation theme on Google and with simple editing process got the task completed.

Check the pic of invitation below.

Don’t Disturb The Routine

Setting a time for the party can be tricky. As it’s difficult to tell how the toddler is going to be on the big day. Since I wanted my baby to be happy and fresh, I avoided any times near or overlapping naps and didn’t dare to disturb his sleep routine.

Also don’t drag the party to go on for long. Two to three hours is a good timeframe. Since the birthday baby needs to get back to the daily routine of eating and napping. Although close family can always stay longer.

Get The Photos Clicked

Since this is a day to remember, you’ll want a lot of photos. Try doing posed and pretty pictures at the beginning of the party. Your child will be clean and not too excited to stand still.

Enlisting a family member or a friend to click the photos with a good camera.

Get Help

Planning a kids’ birthday party is overwhelming, so it is absolutely ok to welcome help from others if you need it. I especially thank my Brother and Bhabhi for helping me with decorations and stuff.

Pick The Perfect Outfit

I made sure the outfit adds to the party theme since he was going to be the center of attention. Also, I made sure that he was comfortable in that outfit.

Thanks to Hopscotch for an amazing suit, the fabric was skin-friendly, soft, and looked great. Of course, one can never go wrong with a little suit, but fancy clothes are too a great choice.

Me and my husband also choose to wear the outfit that syncs with the party theme as a boss crew.😄

Don’t Forget to Have Fun

We always tend to get too caught up in small details and forget to have fun. Remember the reason for having a party is because the most precious person in your life is turning one. So even if everything goes wrong, you can still have a great time if you make the day all about your awesome one-year-old.

Celebrated Birthday the Indian Way

Although Cake Smash in First Birthday is the biggest ongoing trend. As in cake smash, there is every bit of chance that he would end up eating too much cake which is junk food loaded with sugars. So, choose to skip this trend and celebrate it the Indian way.

We started the birthday celebration by performing simple aarti to the birthday boy wishing and blessing him the best, healthy, and prosperous life.

Later, a small Teething Ceremony was held to celebrate his extended food palate after teething. This is done by pouring puffed rice, chocolates, and flowers on him by all the family members.

The teething ceremony is then followed by fun Selection Ceremony where a number of symbolic items like books and pens, money, gold, silver, flowers, fruits, and chocolates were kept in a row.

He was then allowed to choose any of them. Books and pen symbolizes learning and wisdom, money symbolizes wealth, gold symbolizes property, flowers symbolizes spirituality, chocolates symbolizes junk food whereas silver symbolizes modernity, glamour, grace and elegance.

As per the prediction of the ritual, the thing he choose first would be his focus in life. It was funny to see him choose Mango first. This symbolized he is will be a food lover. After all, son always follows his papa’s footsteps. I hope he avoids junk and opts for a healthy lifestyle. 😊

These ceremonies are beautiful as well as heart-warming and kept to have fun with my baby and keep him engrossed.

Finally, got the cake cut by him by holding his hand. He was very happy to enjoy a very tiny cake piece from us. The cake pieces were then distributed to all, and then a scrumptious dinner was served.

Return gifts always make kids glad. It’s great to see such cute smiles on their face, so packed them cute gifts. These were too were brought online, and I was happy with the products.
