Anyways for me its already summer as it’s scorching hot, sun is just come more powerful than any other season with long days and short nights. Hell Yeah! It’s summer. Although summers come along with hot flash, scorching winds, dusts, skin rashes due to sweat and uncomfortable nights on account of heat, we all anxiously wait for sweet mangoes during this season. Summers are so exhausting for working women & men and a La La Land for children as its Holiday time.😎
It’s way to hot in Davangere with maximum temperature of 38℃ and with 50% humidity. Although, its highly impossible to control the ongoing climatic actions. Inculcating few summer healthy lifestyle and tips listed below in day today life can give such a relief during summer. So here we go Wroom…
Keep Hydrating: As its hot you tend to dehydrate a lot through sweat so its highly important to drink plenty of water to keep the body cool and hydrated as our body constitutes about 70% of water. Water not only maintains body temperature it also removes wastes, lubricates joints and keeps skin healthy. So drink about 8-12 glasses of water every day.
Exercise: Well summers should definitely not be an excuse to skip exercise as it should be part of your lifestyle regardless of any season. Exercising is good stress buster as exercising releases happy hormones ”Endorphins” and plus it also improves blood circulation for glowing healthy skin.
Follow Healthy Diet: Avoid oily and spicy food during summers as too much spice boosts up metabolism thereby increasing body heat which can make you feel uncomfortable as its already hot in summers. On the other-hand consumption of oily or fried food can cause uneasiness as it takes longer time to digest and finally may end up feeling sleepy. Instead, opt for grilled and mild food which are light on appetite and binge on lots of fruits and green leafy vegetables. Replace wheat for ragi or brown rice as frequent consumption of wheat can increase body heat.
Avoid Alcohol, Caffeine and Carbonated drinks: Alcohol and Caffeine tend to cause dehydration making one feel, uncomfortable during summers. In addition caffeine also tends to heats up the body. So It’s advisable to sip on a healthier alternative like coconut water, buttermilk, yogurt, lemonade and fresh juices that keeps the body cool and also glows the skin.
Carbonated drinks are loaded with sugars which leads to weight gain plus it’s acidic nature due to the presence of phosphoric acid and citric acid harms the tooth enamel and cause bone loss.
Protect yourself from harmful sun’s rays: UV rays of sun are known to cause various skin issues like dullness, dryness, sunburns and also skin cancer. It is also one of the primary cause for wrinkles according to the Environmental Protection Agency. So do apply sunscreen 30 minutes before stepping out during the day. There are different types of sunscreen available in the market. But it is advisable to use broad spectrum sunscreen that gives protection from UVA and UVB rays. Look for following ingredients to catch up with the broad spectrum sunscreens: Ecamsule, Avobenzone, Oxybenozone, Salicylates, Titanium dioxide, Sulisobenzone, Zine oxide, octylmethyl cinnamate and cinoxate. Avoid oil based sunscreens as they tend to grease. Grease and sweat makes one feel uneasy also it can eventually lead to breakouts due to clogged pores. Instead, go for Aqua based products may be sunscreen or moisturizer as these are too light on skin plus they hydrate your skin too.
Likewise protecting hair and eyes are also crucial. Do use thick scarf and good pair of protective sunnies to protect your hair and eyes from sun’s UV rays.
Use Breathable Fabric: Cotton is best wearable fabric during summers. Being breathable, skin friendly it transmits body heat and absorbs sweat. Cotton are soothing and are also trending these days in the fashion world.
Tulsi/Basil Leaves: Make a habit of drooping few Tulsi leaves into hot water mug and sipping it. Basil leaves has an excellent antibiotic, anti germicidal property that prevents body rashes and also protects the body from all sorts of bacterial, viral and fungal infections. Camphene present in it gives a soothing and cooling effect. Tulsi leaves are known to cure mouth ulcers and is also an excellent mouth freshener.
Skincare: Cleansing and moisturizing is key rule for clear healthy skin. Always wash your face once you get back with a good face wash. Look for ingredients like Salicilic acid or tea tree oil in your face wash which can help get rid of acne for acne prone skin .
Exfoliating is another important aspects for body and face for clear, healthy, glowing skin. As exfoliation helps you to get rid of dead skin cells thereby improving the effectiveness of your skin pores to breath and adsorb the goodness of face pack and moisturizer you use. It also helps improve blood circulation making your skin glow. Try to exfoliate at least once a week, depending on your skin you can push it to twice a week. But remember too much exfoliation can also cause damage. Regular toning and moisturizing helps in hydrating skin and delays the aging of skin.
Also its beneficial to use hydrating face masks made of cucumber or Tomato once or twice a week which can help soothing and removing skin tan during summers.
Heavenly Hours: Getting the right amount of sleep is also essential for healthy skin, body and mind. Our body and skin needs those 7-8 hours of sleep to repair itself. Try wearing loose cotton clothes while sleeping and skip drinking water 1 hour or at least 30 minutes before going to bed. As drinking too much water can lead to frequent urination that can disturb your heavenly sleep hours. Also try to remain active during the day by exercising, going for long walk etc so that you are able to sleep well when your body gets tired.
I know in busy hectic lifestyle, it’s difficult to take care of our selves every time but it’s just difficult not impossible. So think smart, plan well and enjoy life.
