Sheet Mask Review: Garnier SkinActive Serum Mask Hydra Bomb Green Tea & Hyaluron

I must thank those, who ever invented these magic sheet/tissue masks which is a hustle free, easy, immediate and effective way of nourishing & moisturising your skin. And is simply superb in improving skin appearance.

Also, these sheet masks are travel friendly so you can not only relax and pamper yourself at home, but also while travelling. Just pop on the sheet mask on your face and relax. And Hola!! You end up with fresh looking face instead of tried and dull one, due to distant travelling.

This is why, sheet masks have gained such an importance and have become increasingly popular over the years.

Although, sheet masks are famously known as a Korean skin care routine staple, these were first invented by Japanese Geishas. As per legend, Geishas, an ancient Japanese entertainers known for their beauty were the first women to use sheet masks.

Generations ago, Geishas used the silk leftovers from sewing kimono garments. The bits of silk were soaked in flower water and placed them onto their faces as part of their Geisha skin care ritual. This is from were the trend of sheet masks began!

Wherever sheet masks come from, its an easy, and simple way for acheiving beautiful skin just in minutes. You can use these masks pretty much as often as you want. But if you have a sensitive skin then you need to keep a check, to avoid unnecessary irritation.

A variety of sheet masks are available with unique ingredients in the market these days such as aloe vera, green tea, charcoal, pomagranate and seaweed etc.

Obviously, each of these ingredients is beneficial for various skin types and conditions. But do make sure to select sheet mask that works best for your skin type.

Also, Hydration is the number one advantage of a sheet mask! One should never underestimate the importance of staying hydrated. As, its a key for a radiant & healthy looking skin, which we all desire. And this big moisture boost is gained from these sheet masks.

An amazing fact about sheet masks is that it forms a seal on your skin keeping the moisture and nutrients locked from escaping! Hence, almost all of the nutritious ingredients are absorbed by the skin cells.

However, to maximize your sheet/ tissue mask benefits, the mask should directly cling to your face as much as possible. If there are any wrinkles or bumps in the sheet mask make sure to smooth them out. It’s ideal to gently push the sheet mask on your face in an outward direction, smoothing out any bumps.

In particular, sheet/tissue mask cannot cleanse or exfoliate your skin. Hence, these steps must be followed separately prior to using these masks.

I was glad to pick Garnier’s Moisture Bomb Green Tea Hydrating Face Sheet Mask for oily, combination and sensitive skin which suited my skin type well. The sheet mask is said to be infused with green tea, hyaluronic acid and glycerin which works wonders on your skin. Also, Granier is a well known as well as trusted brand and so, was positive about the results. Hence, I thought to give it a try.

Garnier SkinActive Serum Mask Hydra Bomb Ingredients:

A close inspection of the contents list reveals presence of alcohol. Which is considered as a bummer when it comes to skin care routine. Although,  alcohols are known to dehydrate the skin, not all alcohols have the same characteristics.

Few like butylene glycol is an organic alcohol, oftenly used for conditioning, and is a humectant. It is one of the gentlest glycols and helps bind moisture to the skin. Another benefit is, it makes the texture less sticky and heavy. It also helps prevent the formula from drying out.

Also, I was glad to spot Camellia Sinensis leaf extract and Hyaluronic acid in the list. Camellia Sinensis leaf extract is good for healthy skin and has anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, astringent and antibacterial effects. It also helps to hydrate the face and is good for acne prone skin.

Hyaluronic acid also has many skin advantages, which includes minimising the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and making the skin feel and look more supple.

Another plus point of this sheet mask is the absence of paraben.

My Experience About Garnier SkinActive Serum Mask Hydra Bomb:

Loved the sheet mask essence as it was quite rich in consistency. Also the sheet/tissue used is quite thick and of good quality. I personally feel that thick sheets presses and holds the essence onto our face much better. The mask was also large enough, so I could get better coverage. Also it would fit all face shapes. It has a lovely scent that isn’t overpowering. However, there wasn’t enough leftover essence in the packet like other sheet masks so that I could end up using on my neck or on my arms/legs. But the sheet was thick and soaked the essence heavily and it didn’t drip.

The mask gave a cool as well as soothing effect initially. But few minutes later, I could feel tingling sensation for a while. It was suggested to leave the mask on for 15 minutes. However, I left mine on for good 30 minutes because the mask was still moist after 15 minutes and I wanted my skin to absorb more of it. The mask adheres well to the face and can be worn while walking. There’s no need to be concerned about it sliding off.

There was still a lot of serum in the mask even after 30 minutes. I peeled off the mask and I waited for the essence to absorbed after few minutes of skin massage. You can seal it in with the moisturiser if you want to. My face looked nice and my skin looked plump and hydrated with beautiful glow.

Since the face was little sticky, I rinsed it with plain water after an hour, and my face was back to normal then. You could also use clean cotton pads to wipe of the excess essence on your face. I had used this mask in the afternoon to get rid of dry and dull skin & also since, I had some outdoor shopping plans in the evening.

I would recommend using this tissue mask at night and leaving the face unwashed for best results. Thankfully my skin didn’t react negatively to the essence and I was glad to use it. The freshness of my face stayed for approx 3 hours. Overall, it was fun using a mask and the results was satisfactory.
